THE DROP OF SCIENCE IN THE OCEAN OF SPIRITUALITY: Scientific basis of PRAYER.

Do prayers call for the religion we’ve humanely divided human beings into?

Does prayer tend to be different for each god on my or your list?

Do prayers get answered by choosing the right god or is it all inside us?

This article will talk about a few scientific bases of the logic behind the act of faith and prayers, which makes complete sense to me. I am not denying the presence of a supreme being here, but just trying to lay out the path through which, it works.

Anyways, let’s 1st come to a common plane that there is a single supreme power whom none of us understand completely. We just call him by different names. And I’m not making this up. I read the following somewhere, which made a lot of sense to me.

In Geeta, Shree Krishna says, ॐis akshar (which can’t be perished), which is my ultimate residence. Which means ॐ is the ultimate existence. In Islam, they say, Allah Hoo. That ऊ is the same sound as OM. Bible starts with.. In the beginning, there was a word, the word was with god and the word was god. Guru Nanak saheb said Ik Onkaar satnaam  (Just the form of OM- “ॐ ka akaar” is the truth).” Every religion says the same thing in different ways, that there is one ultimate supreme power, the beginning of everything, the OM.

Getting through the spiritual part, guessing you all are on the same page as me, that all prayers do go to the same supremacy, now let’s move on to how our prayers work. Try to stick with me till the end of this article, and I’ll try to make sense of what I am talking about.

So how do we pray?

I can hear you say – by offering flowers, food, incense, etc., and by chanting specific MANTRAS/ CHANTS.

Now, what is a MANTRA? – MANan TRAyata = One that is repeated in mind.

Repetition of affirmation of orders to your subconscious mind is the only method of voluntary development of the emotion of faith, and that’s what we do in prayers. So, the whole journey starts in our mind. Repetition of those powerful vibrations and meaningful words of mantra imbibes, what we call- faith in our minds. (Mantra can actually be anything, may differ from person to person, and from interest to interest.)

Any impulse of thought which is repeatedly passed on to the subconscious mind is, finally, accepted and acted upon by the subconscious mind, which proceeds to translate that impulse into its physical equivalent, by the most practical procedure available (Maybe that’s how we get fruits of our prayers).

Napoleon Hill in his famous book, “Think and grow rich”, writes – “FAITH is the head chemist of our mind. When faith is blended with the vibrations of thought, the mind or our subconscious immediately picks the vibration, translates it into spiritual equivalent, and transmits it to infinite intelligence, as in the case of prayer.”

Faith is the basis of all miracles and all mysteries which cannot be analyzed by the rules of science.

Faith is the only known antidote for failure.

Faith is the element which, when mixed with prayer (Repetitions of affirmations), gives one direct communication with the infinite intelligence. This process in our subconscious constitutes a magnetic force that attracts, the vibrations of other similar or related thoughts. This even creates what we call a vibe. (Probably the reason why spiritually enlighted people are considered to have good vibes around them.)

In Indian culture, there is a famous belief which states that “Nar hi Narayan hai.”(Nar = Human, Narayan = God), which means every human has god inside him or every human is god in himself. If you think a bit about it, it is actually talking about the part in us which act for us on behalf of the god – Our SUBCONSCIOUS. When we say, God is watching everything, don’t do bad to anyone, it’s actually our own subconscious that is awake 24 x 7 and is watching all our deeds and recording all our words without us noticing. A small step in the wrong direction may be nothing wrong for our conscious, but it stains our subconscious without fail. So, worry about your subconscious while choosing your deeds.

Subconscious isn’t unfair towards the nature of deeds. It registers everything equally. The subconscious mind translates into its physical equivalent, a thought impulse of a negative or destructive nature just as readily as it will act upon thought impulses of positive and constructive nature. This records for the phenomenon we refer to as “Fortune” and “Misfortune”. It’s not the almighty that is angry at us and punishing us with misfortune, but our conscious and unconscious thought inputs to our own subconscious mind.

Prayer is considered a form of therapy that heals when you trust the law of healing.

As Dr. Joseph Murphy in his book “The power of your subconscious mind” states- “In prayer, you consciously choose a certain idea, mental picture, or a plan, which you desire to experience. As you remain faithful in your mental attitude, your prayer will be answered. While you’re praying, you absolutely refuse to give any power to the negative conditions or to admit for a second that, good times will not come. Any method which causes you to move from fear and worry to faith and expectancy will heal.

As it is said, “Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find.”

There is always a direct response from the infinite intelligence or the supreme power of your subconscious mind to your conscious thinking. You must reach a point of acceptance in your mind, an unqualified and undisputable state of agreement for your subconscious, which, in other words, we call unwavering Faith with respect to prayers.

I don’t know, how much I succeeded in putting sense into the Scientific basis of PRAYER, but once you, yourself will think about it, It all will make sense. For your ease, summarizing this whole concept, with another line stated in “The power of your subconscious mind”, which says that- “The sound basis for the art and science of prayer is your knowledge and complete confidence that the movement of your conscious mind will gain a definite response from your subconscious mind, which is the one with boundless wisdom and infinite power.”

So, next time when you pray, keep this in mind, even if you don’t know how far away from you, the god you’re praying to, is sitting, the messenger, interpreter, and director is just inside your own head- your subconscious. Be Aware of it.
