5. Building Resilience and Coping Skills: Adolescents should be taught resilience and coping mechanisms that can help them manage stress, anxiety, and adversity. This can include mindfulness practices, relaxation techniques, physical exercise, and creative outlets like art or writing.

The Role of Schools and Policymakers

Schools and educational institutions must prioritize mental health alongside academic achievement. Incorporating mental health education into the curriculum, offering peer support groups, and training teachers to identify early signs of mental health issues are crucial steps in fostering a supportive environment for adolescents.

Policymakers, too, need to focus on creating robust mental health policies that provide resources and funding for adolescent mental health services. This includes expanding access to affordable mental healthcare, ensuring that mental health is part of routine health check-ups, and addressing the social determinants of mental health, such as poverty and inequality.

The deteriorating mental health of adolescents is an urgent issue that demands immediate attention. The combination of academic pressure, social media influence, family dynamics, and global crises has created a perfect storm for mental health struggles among young people.
